Gruess dich!....This might be my last day of internet for a while, so I thought I would post a few pictures!
***Above: Thursday, July 23rd - My cousin Jan is a cook (you have to go to school for this in Germany) at one of the local restaurants in Detmold and he prepared this DELICIOUS meal for me when we ate at his restaurant.
***Above: Friday, July 24th - Alex and I in "die Stadt" (the city). At the moment we were at the monument to those Jews who died during the Nazi persecution.
***Above: Friday, July 24th - Walking around little old Detmold with my mom & Aunt Cornelia (my dad's sister).
***Above: Sunday, July 26th - Me at the "Hermannsdenkmal" (literal translation: Herman's monument). This is a monument to the man (Hermann) and his wife (Tusnelda - how is that for a barbaric female name?) who led the Germans in defeating the invading Romans.
***Above: Monday, July 27th - Alex and I eating bratwurst, pommes (fries) & Sinalco (comprable to orange Fanta).
Tomorrow we are headed to Hamburg (further north) to stay with my uncle. My uncle is a neurosurgeon and I'll be shadowing him at the hospital on Wednesday & Thursday. When we arrive on Tuesday, we'll drive an hour farther to Kiel. When we lived in Germany for the 2002-2003 school year, we lived outside Kiel in a small town called Preetz. We'll be dropping by Preetz to visit friends that we made during that year.
On Friday morning, the plan is to leave Hamburg and pass through Gottingen (close to Berlin) to visit an old exchange student friend, then we'll drive further south to Munich and spend the night there.
Saturday morning, we make the drive through Germany, Switzerland and then to Northern Italy to Peschiera on Lago di Garda. Can't wait to see my friend Julie & her family there!!!
Bis bald!
