Monday (5/18):
On Monday morning, I walked down to the hospital to be there at 8:30ish.

I accompanied Dr. Deb on rounds in the pediatric ward. I especially enjoyed this, because I had been on rounds with her the week before so I was familiar with many of the cases on got a chance to see many of the kiddos doing better.
We stopped by the maternity ward on our rounds to check on the little ones. The sun and heat Monday morning were extreme which meant that the wards were even hotter than the outdoors, so I started feeling queasy in the maternity ward. I couldn't handle it any longer, so Deb let me go to her air-conditioned office where I encountered Dr. Roush and Lisa who promptly gave me a glass of cold water.
Dr. Roush, Elisa and I went to take pictures of a little boy with abnormal growths in his head and behind his left eye. No one knows what is wrong with him and he is declining rapidly :-(

Later, I got a movie going for the kids in the peds ward. After, Elisa and I distributed stickers among all the little patients. Everyone enjoyed them! It was so exciting to see faces light up at such a small treat.
***Above: This kid LOVED the stickers, but at this point he was too busy staring at my camera. Too cute.
The rest of the morning was spent between the office, taking pictures and doing other random stuff around the hospital.

I went up to the Kelly's for lunch. The Kelly's had one of the boys' friends over named Chris. Chris and his dad have been at the hospital for over 5 months because of an injury and infection that Chris had on the back of his ankle/heel.
After lunch, I don't really recall what occured, but at 3pm the Kelly's had French lessons, so the kids and I kept busy in the boys' room. A little before this, I started feeling nauseaous and a little out of it.
Emma and I goofed around after French and wrote the last post on my blog about me dying froms some strange bacterial disease. I will have you know that Emma is an excellent editor! ...We had a late dinner, after which I went over to Lisa's to chat a bit. After that I did some laundry and computer stuff, listened to music and then went to bed.
Tuesday (5/19):
Today was my sick day. I woke up feeling pretty fabulous, but on my walk down to the hospital, that changed and there went my breakfast. So, I walked back home, cleaned myself up and went to bed. I slept for four hours until about noon. I had a little bread and butter for lunch, then slept the rest of the afternoon. Basically, the day consisted of a sore throat, nausea, vomiting, fever and other fun symptoms. I had a little chicken, rice and mashed potatoes for dinner, showered, tucked the kids in (Kelly's were at a staff meeting) and then a series of adventures begun.
While tucking Emma in, I discovered a cockroach which Zach promptly killed. After that, I went back to my room and encountered a few more critters. I had Lisa pull a splinter out of my foot, because I failed miserably when I attempted to pluck it out. Upon returning to my room, I encountered a LARGE, hairy spider which ran away from me and my shoe, but I am happy to say that it came out of hiding about 5 minutes ago and I KILLED it!!!
The Roush's leave for Libreville and then Ohio tomorrow, so I am really hoping to make it to the hospital tomorrow AM, so I can say good-bye.
We don't have porkypines in Al but we do have armydillos. When we see you in June we can bring some. Enjoy your posts. The Hops
